May 2005 - THE COMICAL
One of the films that did really well at the festival was “Goodnight, We Love You” by Gregg Barson. The documentary on Phyllis Diller took second place.
“One thing that was really important to me (was) that it was a time-capsule piece,” Gregg Barson said. “I didn’t want it to be all (about) the stand-up. I wanted that to weave throughout the documentary, as opposed to being a concert film. I see it (the Festival) helping me…(for) a few different reasons. The first one is just for people to see it, and to maybe make this my calling card. I want to break even…if at all. If anyone could see this here at the U.S. Comedy Arts festival, and say “This guy knows what he’s doing,” all the better. To say, “Hey, he can do it. Can he do another one?”
Yes.
